A new project to provide a Furnace Preset for easy-to-make Dark Wave, combining the grungy sound of Yamaha FM Synthesis and the MOS Technologies SID chip with the sample handling of the Amiga Paula. ### Chips in Use - Yamaha YM2413 (OPLL) - Amiga Paula - MOS Technologies 6581 (C64 SID) * 2 ### Why? I wanted a chip that combined the iconic sounds of the Sega Genesis and the Commodore 64 with the nostalgic sample based sound of the Super Nintendo. After digging into a bit of New Wave, Dark Wave and Darksynth, I noticed that a lot of the sound comes from the rhythm of the track, not the guitars. As it so happens - the chip used in the Sega Genesis is a cut down version of a better chip, so, that's the FM Synth that went in. ### Setup Download the file and import it into Furnace as a User System (Found under Settings). Start a new song and then open up the Channels window (Window > Song > Channels). Turn off the OPNA's sample channel (ADPCM) and the SSG channels. Keep these settings handy. ### Why the name? Why not name a fantasy system I made to make goth chiptunes after THE Blood Countess (or a Christian Witch... which ever side you stand on...)
